The Impact of a Loss Assessor: Discover How Karl Made a Difference

When property damage turns life upside down, Karl steps in to help customers regain control. As the loss assessor for Concept Claim Solutions (Horsham), he takes charge of the insurance claim, deals directly with the insurer and coordinates the repairs needed to restore the property and help life return to normal.

An Experienced Advocate On Your Side

Karl joined Concept Claim Solutions in 2018, bringing decades of commercial and management experience. Since then, he has managed insurance claims ranging from damage to individual homes to major commercial losses worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Karl reports successful outcomes in more than 95% of the insurance claims he’s managed. Whatever the size of the loss, his objective remains the same: to protect the customer’s interests and help them move forward.

What Does a Loss Assessor Do?

While an insurer may appoint a loss adjuster to investigate a claim on its behalf, a loss assessor represents the policyholder. For customers already coping with damage to their home, rental property or business premises, having an experienced professional manage these responsibilities can make a difficult situation far less stressful.

Karl can manage every stage of the process, including:

  • Assessing and documenting the damage
  • Gathering evidence and preparing the claim
  • Establishing the appropriate scope of repairs
  • Communicating and negotiating with the insurer
  • Challenging decisions where appropriate
  • Coordinating contractors and overseeing the reinstatement work

Challenging a Rejected Escape-of-Water Claim

One of Karl’s cases involved a property in Winchester that had been purchased at auction.

Before the new owner moved in, the property flooded over Christmas following an escape of water. The insurer investigated the circumstances because of suspected fraud and rejected the insurance claim.

Karl helped the customer challenge the decision through the Financial Ombudsman Service, which found in the customer’s favour and instructed the insurer to accept liability.

When the proposed reinstatement work was subsequently rejected, the case returned to the Ombudsman and the customer succeeded again. Karl then oversaw a restoration project worth almost £180,000 plus VAT, transforming the badly damaged property into a finished home.

The case demonstrates the importance of knowledgeable representation when an insurance claim is questioned or rejected. Karl examined the issues, supported the customer through the dispute and managed the process until the repairs were completed.

Managing a Challenging Landslide Claim

Karl has also worked on a major landslide affecting a designer property in St Lawrence on the Isle of Wight.

The unusual home, previously featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, was affected when a large section of the surrounding land gave way. The incident caused extensive damage and destroyed what had previously been an access road.

This was far from a routine property claim. It required careful coordination and an understanding of how the ground movement had affected both the property and its surroundings.

The case received coverage in the local press, while Karl’s work led to a further instruction at a neighbouring property. It illustrates his ability to bring together the right specialists and manage even highly complex or unusual losses.

Helping a Business Recover After a Major Fire

When a serious fire damaged a restaurant in Yarmouth, the business faced losses valued at more than £400,000.

The building required a complete refurbishment, including moving the kitchen from upstairs to downstairs. The reinstatement also had to comply with current building regulations—a particularly demanding requirement because the restaurant is attached to a Grade II-listed castle.

Karl coordinated the specialists and the work required to restore the property, helping to turn a severely fire-damaged building into a renewed commercial space.

Local Service Backed by Nationwide Support

Karl combines attentive, locally delivered support with the resources and expertise of Concept Claim Solutions, a nationwide loss-assessing and property-reinstatement business with more than 24 years’ experience and winner of Loss Assessor of the Year 2026.

Much of his work comes through recommendations from customers, insurance brokers, letting agents, block management companies and tradespeople, a reflection of the trust he has earned.

By putting customers at the heart of every claim, Karl not only helps restore their properties but also gives them the confidence to recommend Concept Claim Solutions to others facing similar circumstances.
